Join the Derby Rotten Scoundrels as we welcome Greg Treadway on November 14 for his presentation: Beyond the Crime Scene: A Detective’s Perspective on Writing Authentic Crime Fiction.
With nearly five decades of law enforcement experience, Greg brings a wealth of firsthand knowledge in criminal investigations, undercover operations, tactical response, and fugitive apprehension. He offers writers a unique perspective on police procedures, investigative techniques, undercover work, and the realities of law enforcement—helping bring greater accuracy and authenticity to crime fiction, mysteries, and thrillers.
Greg Treadway spent 25 years with the Louisville Police Department and Louisville Metro Police Department, including 23 years as a narcotics detective, where he conducted extensive undercover investigations. He also served two years in patrol and spent 10 years as a sniper with the department’s SWAT team. For the past 23 years, he has continued his law enforcement career with the Sheriff’s Office, where he currently serves as a detective assigned to the Fugitive Unit. In addition to his law enforcement career, he owns Gumshoe Investigations, LLC, his private detective agency, further extending his experience in investigative work beyond traditional law enforcement. Throughout his career, he has developed extensive knowledge of firearms, their functions, and their practical applications in law enforcement.
